ROG.e parallel events are focusing on key topics in the energy sector

19/09/2024

Technological innovation, O&G exploration safety, professional development, diversity and inclusion, renewables and biofuels, and lubricants are part of the schedule for September 23 to 26 in Rio de Janeiro

ROG.e, one of the world’s leading energy events and organized by the Brazilian Institute of Petroleum and Gas (IBP), will promote seven parallel events at the 2024 edition, which will be held between September 23 and 26 at the Olympic Boulevard in Rio de Janeiro. The initiatives will address topics that are central to the energy sector: from technological innovations to best safety practices in oil and gas exploration; from diversity, equity and inclusion actions to career development prospects for young talent; from the progress of wind and solar sources to the challenges of activities in mature fields.

“The idea is to foster a broad debate on topics essential for developing the energy sector and for the country’s socio-economic progress. We will synergize debates on the fundability of energy developments, the possibilities of new green technologies, the need for greater gender and racial equity in the market, as well as the corporate demands of entering the job market,” explains Victor Montenegro, IBP’s Executive Manager for Events and New Business.

Attendees and visitors will be able to join these discussions in the ROG.e expo area, which will also feature stands from more than 550 companies, bringing together leaders and professionals from the energy sector, authorities, academics and people interested in the topics, providing an environment for exchanging ideas and experiences, learning, professional development and networking. “This is the spirit of ROG.e by ‘Connecting Energies’,” adds Montenegro.

ROG. e 2024 is sponsored by Petrobras, Shell, TotalEnergies, Equinor, Galp, Origem, Brava, Petronas, Prio, bp, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Modec, Repsol Sinopec Brasil, SBM Offshore, Acelen, Eletrobras, Excelerate Energy, Ipiranga, Pan American Energy, Vibra, Dell, Nvidia, Naturgy, TechnipFMC, TBG, Trident Energy, ABB, Contrutora Elevação, Compass, Foresea, Huawei, Karoon Energy, OceanPact, Perbras, Subsea7, TAG, Transpetro, Vallourec, Renave, in addition to the participation of the Federal Government.

Technological Innovation

One of the new features of this edition, iUP Innovation Connections aims to showcase the latest innovations in the oil, gas and energy sector to companies – including low-carbon solutions – to foster partnerships and investments and explore challenges and opportunities.

With a separate entrance fee, the space will feature plenary sessions, which will include debates and presentations on trends, cases and demands from the energy industry; keynote sessions, in which CEOs and market leaders will present their visions for the industry and the innovation ecosystem; masterclasses with specialists and leading names in the sector on technology, innovation, attracting investments and managing startups; speed dating, in which startups will be able to present their products and services in rounds of conversation, and the industry representatives will be able to interact and answer questions; and a startup expo.

Other activities planned include start-up pitches – with the best ones competing for five places at CERA Week Innovation Agora 2025 – and the Academic Competition, a ‘tournament’ in which students can contribute to the development of ideas and innovations for the O&G industry, with the ‘Long Duration Energy Storage’ challenge.

Names such as Alfredo Renault, Director of the Low Carbon Technology Center at COPPE/UFRJ; Isabel Waclaweck, Director of RD&I at TotalEnergies; Maiza Goulart, Executive Manager at CENPES; Patricia Grabowsky, Executive Manager of People and Innovation at Ocyan; and Ada Jakobsen, CEO of Maritime Cleantech are already confirmed.

iUP Innovation Connections is sponsored by Petrobras, Accenture, Bosch, Cesar, Dell, Nvidia, Eletrobras, Karpowership, Subsea7, TotalEnergies, EY and the Federal Government.

Renewables and Biofuels

In this edition, renewables will also have a special place in the expo. The  Renewables and Biofuels Arena will be a space for networking, disseminating knowledge and debating technological advances and operational strategies for wind (onshore and offshore), solar and green technologies, as well as dialogues between leaders focusing on regulatory advances, advanced technologies and priorities for national energy security.

The arena, which will feature discussions throughout the days of ROG.e, is sponsored by Acelen, White Martins, Corio, Equinor, Illian, A&M INFRA & Capital Projects, TotalEnergies and TMX.

Lubricants

Also over the four days of the event, the Lubricants Island will feature experts talking about additive technology, sustainability, the energy transition, the market and quality, the challenges of electrification, and the Euro VI fleet. The program will also include an autograph afternoon with Felipe Batista, a Stock Car driver

The event is sponsored by ICONIC, Mobil, Petronas, Castrol, Lwart, Raízen, the Brazilian Automotive Engineering Association (AEA), Infineum, Lubes em Foco and Lubrax. The initiative also has the support of the Legal Fuel Institute (ICL), Lubrizol and the Jogue Limpo Institute.

Professional Development

The Young Summit will be aimed at students, young professionals and industry managers to expand their knowledge, exchange experiences and develop skills.

The program, which will take place on the 23rd and 24th, will feature an opening lecture by OPEC Secretary General, Haitham Al Ghais, and IBP President, Roberto Ardenghy, and the discussions will be organized around three pillars: career and leadership; energy transition; and entrepreneurship and innovation.

The space will also feature Flavio Canto, Ambassador of PRIO’s Reação Offshore Institute, sponsor of the arena, that will discuss mental health, artificial intelligence, the role of young professionals in leading the energy transition, generational conflicts and the role of mentoring in professional growth.
